French at St. Mary's

At St. Mary's languages are an important part of everyday learning. We, as a school, are enriched with a range of languages spoken by children at home such as Polish, Spanish, Italian and French as well as many others. We have weekly taught French lessons by our visiting French teacher Madame Randell. She works with children from Year 1 up to Year 6. Children are able to apply their learning on regular French trips as well as at our annual French Day. Many languages are also involved in classrooms through everyday practice through a range of activities as well as having these displayed around classrooms and the school to reinforce reading these languages. Children practise writing in French throughout Key Stage 2 and write to pen pals in France in Year 4.
