London Youth Games 2015

After officially becoming the best in the Borough, our Y5/6 boys represented St Mary’s at the Balfour Beatty London Youth Games held at Crystal Palace. The boys should be proud that they represented their school at Europe’s largest annual youth sports event. Maggie Alphonsi (Rugby World Cup & Grand Slam Winner) was once a competitor and claimed it was where her rugby career began.

Thirty two teams from all over London took part and the first game was a real test for us. Despite losing to a great team, the boys went on to hold their opposition to three draws and a 1-0 win to finish off an exhausting day.  Although they didn`t win, the boys can still hold their heads up high.

Well done to Miles Jones, James Hamilton, Callum Montague, Jake Cullen, Jack Good, Fynn Prosser, James McMillan, Harry Wareham and Isaac Bridle.

A big thank you to their coach, Red, and to Mrs Martin for looking after them throughout the day.

As usual, many parents joined our boys, offering transport and cheering them on each step of the way.
