St Mary's come third in athletics tournament

Update 12th December 2017

St Mary's achieved 3rd place! This is a fantastic accomplishment. Well done to all the children.

Out of the three sports tournaments that we have entered so far this year, we have won two and come third.

A great start to the year!

On Tuesday 5th December St Paul's Academy hosted the annual sportshall athletics competition for local primary schools. St Mary's boys and girls competed against five other schools on the day, in a number of events, to see if they could represent Greenwich against other boroughs.

The children had a chance to participate in field and track events. These included triple jump, javelin speed bounce; and the 6 lap Paarlauf (two children have to run 6 laps in total between them).

While we do not yet have the results of the tournament, St Mary's were awarded with the 'Respect' award for their sportsmanship and behaviour on the day; this is perhaps the most important recognition of all.

The team were so well prepared for the tournament thanks to the hard work of Mr McGrath and Miss Collins over the last 1/2 term. The children couldn't have performed any better and won many races.

Thanks again for the support of the parents who helped with support and transport - this helps us so much.
