Section 48 Report

Our most recent Section 48 Report (Catholic RE Inspection) was in July 2017. 

'St. Mary’s is an outstanding school. It is a school with a distinctive Catholic ethos. Pupils know they belong to an overtly Catholic Christian community and appreciate the care they receive.

The teachings and values of the Gospel are fundamental to the life and work of the school.

It is an inspirational community where each individual feels truly loved, welcomed and empowered, allowing them to be inspired by the teachings of Christ. It is a happy Christ-centred learning environment.'

 From our most recent Ofsted report in December 2022

Pupils’ personal development is carefully planned through all aspects of the curriculum. Pupils have an extensive knowledge of different faiths and beliefs. Pupils are taught about tolerance and being kind to each other. They understand the importance of staying healthy. Staff support pupils to deepen their understanding of societal issues, such as discrimination.

This prepares pupils well for the future. Pupils have many and varied opportunities to develop new talents and social skills. Pupils enjoy a wide range of sports and are proud to represent their school. Pupils understand the importance of equalities. They celebrate differences among people and culture.
